People allegedly born in Atcham - caution
[edit]Care needs to be exercised before putting up someone listed as born in Atcham under the list of Notable people. Atcham was in fact the name of the births registration district which covered the town of Shrewsbury and villages in its hinterland as far west as the Wales border; its title was altered to Shrewsbury later in the 20th century. There have been a number of people listed in reference works as born at Atcham, Shropshire, who on closer biographical checking transpired to have been born in Shrewsbury and were not of families resident in Atcham parish, at a time when the registration district was titled Atcham.Cloptonson (talk) 20:18, 27 March 2018 (UTC)
Atcham (old) Bridge
[edit]Although it is given as 1774 in the cited BBC page, the older Atcham Bridge was, according to the building listing record, built 1769-71. I have amended it accordingly with the NHLE citation (also used in John Gwynn the architect's wikipedia article) attached immediately to the mention of that bridge.Cloptonson (talk) 19:39, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
'Smallest village' (to give name to constituency) claim
[edit]In population, Atcham is the smallest village to be named in a UK Parliamentary constituency
I agree with the citation need raised to this statement. The article doesn't mention in first place what its population is (last published census was 2011).Cloptonson (talk) 06:00, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
