[edit]This page's name is incorrect, correct name of the Sura in Arabic is At-Taubah --NEWUSER|CARPEDIEM (talk) 01:19, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
- No, with transliteration from Arabic (or any language for that matter) there is a decent amount of room for different spelling... therefore At-Taubah or At-Tauba or At-Tawbah are all good redirect pages to this, but none of them are actually more correct. gren 09:45, 22 May 2005 (UTC)
- of course there is the correct (scientific) transliteration, which in this case would be at-tawbatu. dab (ᛏ) 13:17, 3 August 2005 (UTC)

Suraht At-Tawba, 5 or [9:5] is LINKED to [9:12-13]. … Will ye not fight people who violated their oaths, plotted to expel the Apostle, and took the aggressive by being the first (to assault) you …
It is talking about those whom plotted to Expel The Apostle of Allah Muhammad and whom Conspired and violate their oath and started the fight . being the first (to assault) or start the hostility ..“ being the first (to assault) you “[9 :13]
It talks about people Start the Hostility by
1)Being the first to fight you.
2)Breaking their Oath of treaty.
3)Continued in their conspiracy and plotted to expel the Messenger.

To clear suspicions
[edit]I feel that there needs to be something about the common misconception of At-Tawba 11, (Quran 9:11) that states in the propagated emails (full text, and I quote at http://www.screamingpickle.com/members/quran):
"Quran (9:11) -- For it is written that a son of
Arabia would awaken a fearsome Eagle. The wrath of
the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of
Allah and lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced;
for the wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace."
In the real At-Tawba 11, it states (and from the same source, yusufali):
"But (even so), if they repent, establish regular prayers, and practice regular charity,- they are your brethren in Faith: (thus) do We explain the Signs in detail, for those who
understand." Homsarrunner 16:03, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

Quran 9:5 - Core of the Core
[edit]With reference to Surah At-Tawbah [Quran 9:5] (Sahih International version) http://quran.com/9/5 (http://www.qurandislam.com/coran/trans/?currPage=187&currSura=9&currAya=5&currTrans=tafsir_en_sahih)
"And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."
Prof. Lakshan Bandara says:
"Read the signs for better interpretation."
"Improve sight beyond sight to learn the ends of what Metaphors mean in literature"
For the sake of humanity, it is important to awaken the ignorant minds of both Muslims and non-Muslims once and for all, who blindly believe and justify inhumanity through scriptures of the intelligence. (Note: non-Muslims too use such ignorance for violence) This is the inherent fact, the core of the core, than mere interpretation. Please distribute this wisdom as far as possible if you are a reasonable man/woman.
The keyword here is "polytheists". (Interpretations for replacement keywords like "Pagans" may vary based on definition) Poly means multiple. Theist mean conclusion. In a research there can be one(mono) or more(poly) conclusions(thesis).
"kill the polytheists/poly+thesis" means narrow or brief to a single conclusion. (Quran expects a single conclusion). More an ideological expression for intellects than a command to a dumb robots as a license to harm people. Sometimes we use synthesis to deduce or induce a single conclusion (mono thesis).
Prof. Lakshan Bandara also says:
* "Laws of a system apply only within the system boundaries (research scope). Laws of war against
outside systems cannot be fully defined within, and always referenced outside."
* "Thesis of research is to prove and/or disprove and/or reject its hypothesis and nothing more."
* "Intellectual war is surgery, Ignorant war is butchery"
Even Buddhism has similar Metaphor. For an ignorant who judges out-of-context, may interpret Buddhism as cruel. Same here apply to Islam.

The Horse trainer asked: "And if a tamable person doesn't submit either to a mild training
or to a harsh training or to a mild & harsh training, what do you do?"
Buddha replied: "If a tamable person doesn't submit either to a mild training
or to a harsh training or to a mild & harsh training, then I kill him, Kesi."
But it's not proper for our Blessed One to take life! And yet the Blessed One just said,
I kill him, Kesi.
"when the sacred months have passed" means, the 4 moths of Hajj in Quran, and likewise 3 months of Vassana kala + 1 month of Katina ceremony in Buddhism. This period is sacred because, it is used for further research in idea (Dhamma) through meditation and discussion.
Some enlightened masters burn their work after completing their research or before they die instead of publishing them (recall death and burn 'parinibbana/adahana' of symbolic Buddha or Mahaparinibbana Sutta), because they know laymen who vaguely consider out-of-context for not having capacity or effort to see the big picture of such great work would cause harm to themselves and others than expected good, like catching a snake from wrong place of it's body. The snakes head may bounce back and bite. This is evidence in any extremist religious conception.
A Wise man who respects wisdom for satisfaction among the many academics and professionals who collect certificates and carriers to prove others, is like a full moon among millions of twinkle stars in the dark sky.
Therefore, please learn to see sight beyond sight and share this virtuous message among your friends. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 112.134.208.237 (talk) 04:46, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Qur'an 9:111
[edit]@Koreangauteng: Can you explain why Q9:111 is notable enough to be included in the article? Looks like its worth is only in relevance to the particular POV you've been trying to push for some time. — AhmadF.Cheema (talk) 12:56, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
- This is NPOV Wikipedia. Feel free to add content, taking into account WP:TOPIC, WP:NOR and WP:SYN. Koreangauteng (talk) 00:17, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
Adding a few half dozen or a dozen verses out of hundred on your personal discretion, and without any given criteria is certainly not NPOV. Adding content is not the issue as wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a line by line tafsir of the Quran. With the exception of the first three and 9:103 (which have reliable secondary sources), the rest of the verses are not noteworthy at all to the purpose of the article and are not part of a discussion with secondary sources. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.155.51.48 (talk) 01:33, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
- At-least Q9:111 is not noteworthy in this context. Its inclusion follows a series of, arguably, POV edits. In the present case, apparently, Islam's alleged preference for violence is being pointed out. — AhmadF.Cheema (talk) 18:38, 17 February 2020 (UTC)
What are your thoughts on: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Al_Imran#Inclusion_of_select_verses As you say this issue has been going on for quite some time now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 39.37.128.82 (talk) 08:09, 19 February 2020 (UTC)
