Project Lepidoptera
[edit]Hello! I'm a current senior at Wash U. doing a project for a Behavioral Ecology class. I will be adding a lot of information but will do my best to keep all current work, unless it is plagiarized. If I find work that I am certain is plagiarized or ripped from another site, I will delete it. PLEASE let me know if you make substantial changes to my work. Thanks! - This article was easy to understand and had a good level of detail. The lead section could be shortened but it does cover only topics discussed later in the article. The edits I made to this article were mostly related to grammar and wording. I corrected a few typos, and made a few other grammatical edits. I also changed the wording to improve the clarity of several sentences. Finally, I added additional links to other Wikipedia pages. EmilyKathryn (talk) 03:41, 31 October 2017 (UTC)
- Like the previous editor, I also found the article easy to follow. I fixed more typos, grammatical errors, and murky wording. I also removed a redundant sentence. I found most parts to be very clear and concise, but the info related to oviposition is less clear. One sentence says eggs are lain singly, multiple others say that eggs are lain in clusters, and one seems to imply that each female lays only one cluster of eggs while another says that there are two generations in a summer. Does this mean that females lay all their eggs for one breeding period one at a time in a single clutch? this info can be cleared up easily, I just did not want to change your information to anything incorrect. --Kaylaholthaus (talk) 00:16, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- I made a few grammatical changes to the lead section. I am confused by the last paragraph of the lead section, but am not sure how to correct it. The last sentence of this paragraph is an incomplete sentence, but I am not sure what the author is trying to say. I added an image of the hackberry tree leaves which this butterfly is named after. The tree is also the host and only food source for the Asterocampa celtis. I added the number of eggs (5-20) that this species usually lays in its clusters and a primary source citation, which the section did not have before. I also added some additional information about the butterfly’s food resources as an adult with a primary source. I recommend that the author add more primary sources, because there are only 7 now with my additions.Felderp (talk) 00:16, 6 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi! Thanks for your advice and edits. I fixed the confusion about oviposition by saying that this butterfly lays egg in clusters, not in single clusters or singly. Ecampell22 (talk) 03:26, 15 November 2017 (UTC)
