There is an ongoing discussion among various academics from University of Moratuwa and Waseda University who dispute the enrolment status of speaker Ashoka Ranwala. Sri Lanka's Parliament doesn't verify academic qualifications of its members.

  1. They are MPs. The people send them to Parliament. We are not recruiters nor a school to question or penalize a peoples rep. However, the law of the land provides for citizen queries. Due to the above reason, we can't use Parliament posts are confirmation of academic qualification. – NirvanaTodayt@lk 14:29, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. The parliament relies on the information provided by the MPs when it comes to education and professional qualifications. Since the parliament not an independent source, it does not meet WP:RS criteria regarding education and professional qualifications. Chanaka L (talk) 14:58, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. Even during George Santos case, the US congress was not in the business of verifying his records. Parliament records cannot be used as sources and have to be independently verified. – NirvanaTodayt@lk 15:17, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Merline303: Can you provide a citation for this edit. I checked the reference immediately flows that sentence, but it doesn't support that statement. Since this article is under the microscope, We as Wikipedians need to be extra careful here. Chanaka L (talk) 12:46, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Biogenic Green Technology Research Institute

[edit]

The above said research institute is permanently closed according to Google Places. https://www.google.com/search?q=BioGenic+Green+Technology+Research+Institute&rlz=1C1GCEU_en__1093__1094&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8. The website listed for this institute does not function anymore. (http://www.biogenicgreen.com/) The Facebook page of the institute also has not updated since 2022 (https://www.facebook.com/BiogenicGreenTechnologyResearchInstitute/). There is no need to mention a defunct institute on a new wiki page. – NirvanaTodayt@lk 08:50, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Profession

[edit]

There are no verifiable records found to support Ranwala being an engineer. Please provide evidence of him practicing an engineering profession before adding that to the infobox. – NirvanaTodayt@lk 10:41, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
