Actual use of the term "Asiatic race":

  • 18th century, "descended from one of the peoples of Asia Minor"[1]
  • 1820s: "any Asian people" *especially Far East, Siberia etc.?) [2] (viz. before the systematic use of 'race', when the word still was equivalent to 'descent', 'tribe', etc.)
  • scientific racism, a large racial division contrasting with the European (Caucasian) and the African (Black) races, 1840s/1830s, presumably more or less equivalent ot the Mongoloid race of Blumenbach
