– Ashley Lawrence the soccer player has 162,377 pageviews in the past 5 years. Ashley Lawrence the musician has 6,504. That's 25 times the amount for the soccer player. It was the correct decision when her page was created and she was not yet famous, but since then she has become the clear primary topic, and doesn't need soccer in the parenthesis. Most professional international footballers are primary for their name, so this is consistent. The other Ashley Laurence spells her name differently. We should put a notice on top directing to that Ashley Laurence. Helpfulwikieditoryay (talk) 08:17, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose - no PRIMARYTOPIC. Pageviews are totally irrelevant; just because a topic is 'current' and receiving page views as a result is no indication of more or less notability. GiantSnowman17:26, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry I was told that pageviews are a good metric for proving primary topic. The pageview argument has been used against me before, and it worked for them. I was careful to discuss pageviews over time rather than just this year so it would not be a "current" topic. If it is the case that pageviews are irrelevant (which you are the first person to tell me this), I will simply change my argument to the fact that she is indeed the primary topic. Oppose - she does not have the same popularity level as Alex Morgan or Sam Kerr for base name to be primary. This article is currently rated as "Start" whereas the other two I am mentioning are good articles, to be honest I have not noticed any start rated articles being primary among others whose people have the same names as each other. Support - I'm a bit surprised by the opposition not taking the evidence into account. Traffic is one of the primary factors, historical significance the other. It's difficult to evaluate the latter criteria for these two pages. In my opinion, the traffic cited is well above the threshold for PRIMARYTOPIC. In fact 100% of the clicks seeking a destination from the base page name are going to the soccer player according to WikiNav clickstream. This can be easily handled by adding a hatnote. -2pou (talk) 23:00, 22 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Support. What a strange discussion. Page views are one of the primary metrics listed at WP:DETERMINEPRIMARY in determining a primary topic. Good evidence provided by the nom and 2pou that the vast majority of people looking for "Ashley Lawrence" are after the article on the soccer player.
