Maybe, but only if you can prove that this accent is generally used in referring to this person in particular, especially since he isn't working in Iceland. Gene Nygaard13:46, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That he wrote his own name without the accent in commenting on the deletion request (link above) is one piece of evidence that it should not be included. It isn't conclusive; he may do it differently in different languages, perhaps including it if he writes in Icelandic but not in Swedish or in English, or whatever—and we should also take into consideration that this is the English Wikipedia when deciding. It may be that because of inexperience with Wikipedia he didn't know that we generally accept use of that letter, or maybe he really doesn't care one way or the other. Support. Be sure to use sort key to index in categories; generally as "|Helgason, Asgeir" except maybe in subcategories of Icelandic people which are usually indexed by first name where it should probably be "|Asgeir Helgason". Note further that this sort key should have "A" in both cases, even if you slap an "Á" into the article name. Gene Nygaard13:46, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Asgeir Helgason → Ásgeir Helgason – This individual is Icelandic. All Icelandic given names Asgeir are written (contrary to Norwegian names) as Ásgeir with an accented A. "Asgeir Helgason" can become a redirect to Ásgeir Helgason for ease of reference for those who do not have access to accented letters. werldwayd (talk) 07:21, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
