Rudņevs' name

His name is Artjoms Rudņevs. This has nothing to do with his ethnicity. Dear 84.236.96.225, stop vandalizing this article.

Yes, his parents were Russian immigrants. Yes, he has Russian roots. Why does that matter and how does that change his name? He's a Latvian citizen without a double nationality.

If you'd take a look at his passport or any other type of ID, you could see that his name is Artjoms Rudņevs. Kursis (talk)

I agree too. After all he is citizen of Latvia and his legal name in passport is Artjoms Rudņevs. Nevertheless alternative Russian spelling can be mentioned. --Zummis (talk) 15:38, 19 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lech Poznan's site says he is "Artiom Rudnev", in addition there is a short article there about his name changing to proper Russian romanization. I consider this a trusted source. According to The Oslo Recommendations regarding the Linguistic Rights of National Minorities Article 1 "Persons belonging to national minorities have the right to use their personal names in their own language according to their own traditions and linguistic systems.", http://www.unesco.org/most/ln2pol7.htm Latvia is violating Russian minority rights in this regard, including Artjom Rudnev's rights. Therefore, using Latvian translation aka "official version" of his real name is morally wrong. In opposite, citizenship has nothing to do with the name. It is legitimate and correct to use the real name of Artjom, which was given by his parents, clearly written in his birth certificate (USSR-time issued) and, probably, mentioned in his passport (the last is unknown, though we do have such opportunity in Latvia and many do use it). - Artur, Latvian citizen of Russian origin. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.205.252.204 (talk) 03:01, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
