Hi this is the second time I've created this page. It was originally deleted because an editor was concerned that the text was too similar to the entry in Australian Dictionary of Biography; but believe me, it is all my own work (though obviously we agree on the facts!)
Please please don't mark for speedy deletion; I sometimes don't get on here for a couple of weeks, so give me a chance to fix, correct or argue before you remove altogether! Kirst6813:21, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia articles ought to maintain an encyclopedic tone, as well as a neutral point of view. Phrases like "His brilliance as a writer, linguist and historian was matched by his warmth and affection for family and friends", "unassuming manner, reluctance to accept accolades and his gift as a listener endeared him to all who knew him", "extraordinary record", "Arthur was above all a husband, father and observer of nature", and "exasperation, temperamental differences, respect and attachment created an unusual domestic environment," are IMO not appropriate unless they are quote attributable to aproper source. In any case this articl needs to cite sources better. DES(talk)17:53, 4 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I accept the above comments. I will try to find appropriate sources or re-write in a more neutral way. Please give me a week or two to respond. Kirst6811:13, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very well. I have added inline citations for those facts supported by the web sources already included in the article. The format of these may help in adding additional citations. Note that {{who}} (which expands as [who?]) means that a citation is needed to indicate who made a statement that is our sounds like a quote or a paraphrase of a quote, while {{fact}} (which expands as {{Fact}}))indicates that a factual statement has been made but no source has been cited for it. Either may be removed when a proper citation is added, or if the article is so re-written that the need for the citation no longer exists. DES(talk)22:02, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
