Fair use rationale for Image:Arriva trains wales logo.gif

Image:Arriva trains wales logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Photo of Class 175

Could someone please take a photo of an Arriva liveried Class 175 and upload it. This would be mean the copyrighted image could be replaced - it will most likely be deleted soon anyway as it has no fair use rationale, meaning there will be no picture at all. Major Stations

I note with some interest that Radyr and Grangetown, among others, have been added to the list of major stations in Wales served by AW. I cannot speak for Radyr, but I travel through Grangetown station regularly when going to Cardiff (from Penarth or Eastbrook) and it does not strike me as a particularly important station. Do people feel that it is major because of passenger numbers, as its role as an interchange between the Penarth and Barry lines (is this a journey often made by train?), or are there other reasons? I would appreciate similar explanations for Radyr.

And whilst I'm on this section, I'd like to question Manchester Oxford Road's credentials as a major station, particularly given that Picadilly is also listed. Any views?

I added Grangetown and Radyr due to their large usage compared to other stations on the network. They have a larger usage than other stations already on the list. Radyr is used as an interchange but I don't believe Grangetown is. Welshleprechaun (talk) 10:33, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

No-one's come out in favour of Oxford Road, so I've removed it from the list. I don't feel it's anywhere near as major as Picadilly next door. I accept that Radyr warrants listing, but I don't feel that Grangetown is. I think there's room for more debate on these two. Ansbaradigeidfran (talk) 18:00, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Rolling Stock routes

The Class 158 is labelled as being used on the Cheltenham route, but Valley Lines suggests that these services are operated through to Maesteg. Is the 158 used here? Is it used to Maesteg too? Ansbaradigeidfran (talk) 17:54, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Swanline

In rewriting this page, we have inadvertently broken Swanline, which redirects to the non-existent section Arriva Trains Wales#Swanline. Should we re-introduce this section in the ATW page, or reinstate Swanline? Ansbaradigeidfran (talk) 22:10, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Swanline is just the name of a service rather than a rail line so it shouldn't have a page of its own. There's nothing really notable about it other than what's already in the article. Welshleprechaun (talk) 18:38, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Welsh Language Services

An IP-based editor has removed some portions of this section. I find that the section now reads more positive of ATW. As the original author of the removed text, I feel a bit of a conflict of interest, and am not sure which version gives the most balanced WP:NPOV. Seemingly little rolling stock investment

Why is it that Arriva Trains Wales don't seem to invest very much money in new rolling stock, when other providers do? First Great Western and London Midland both operate in some areas that Arriva Trains Wales does, but they have far more up-to-date trains. The Heart of Wales line is the worst - the trains here are ancient and generally uncomfortable and even dirty. Why can't they purchase some decent trains like London Midland do? 84.69.54.20 (talk) 02:17, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

It ultimately comes down to what governments are willing to fund, and even if Arriva paid for it themselves, it would still need government approval as a worthwhile and sustainable expense because of the way the franchising system works. Because the franchies was let under the agreement of the DFT/SRA that there will be no growth and the operator does not need to provide it. They are the people that need to answer that question. Arrive could of been anyone NX, First etc it makes no diffrence the owner, the outcome would have been the same NO GROWTH NO NEW UNITS NEEDED.

PLEASE CAN PPL STOP CHANGING IMAGES OF THE ARRIVA TRAIN LIVERY. ARRIVA TRAINS WALES HAVE PLACES THE PICTURES FOR ADVERTISEMENT PURPOSES, AND FELLOW USERS CHANGING IT AFFECTS ARRIVA'S PUBLICATION. SO PLEASE LEAVE THE PICTURES ALONE. THANK YOU.
