Problems with the article

[edit]

This article reads like nothing more than Mr. Zack's personal resume. It does not cite any sources for the myriad assertions as to the subject's background, experiences or accomplishments. Without outside, verifiable sources, the article should be considered for deletion. In addition, and importantly, the article is the creation of User:Zackam whose only contributions to wikipedia are this particular article. The newness of the account, its exclusive use to create this article, and the similarity of the user name (Zackam) to the subject name (Zack, A.M.) raise questions as to whether this is a self-authored piece. This article may be appropriate for deletion. Cbl62 (talk) 23:14, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If Zackam and A.M. Zack are one and the same, then the article is contrary toWikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Autobiography. Cbl62 (talk) 23:33, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
See the entry at Wikipedia:Help_desk#Arnold_M._Zack, the author says that this article is indeed autobiographical. Chuckiesdad/Talk/Contribs 22:30, 4 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please note: I can see no exact reference here to the dates of Zack's birth or death. In consequence, it as if this lawyer had never even existed; which, on the whole, may be good for the criminals but not for the profession. I am aware this article is autobiographical, but the information presented would suggest he is noteworthy enough to have his own article. There is nothing glaringly self-serving and he makes no outrageous claims (like that he invented the word pie). I suggest this be moved into AFD at least to allow for greater exposure and expansion. If no one else can find third party sources to back up the article then it will be deleted trough there. -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 05:08, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well nothing self-serving except that the whole thing reads like a curriculum vitae.  – ukexpat (talk) 05:20, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
any poorly article written on a non-controversial person could read like a list of their accomplishments. self-serving implies peacock terms, or making a subjective claim about his ability. -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 18:12, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Further comment

[edit]

I still have my doubts as to whether this article should remain. If it is to remain, it should be based on verifiable third-party sources, not the subject's self-authored resume or CV. Accordingly, I have eliminated the material that had no citation to a verifiable source or which is based solely on his resume. The bit about the ADB Administrative Tribunal is supported by the ADB web site, so I left that. The bit about the "steering committee" for the Permanent Court of Arbitration is different. I searched the PCA web site and found no reference to Zack ever holding any official positin with the organization. Also, the "Structure" section of the PCA web site includes an extensive recitation of the organizational structure and makes no mention either of a "steering committee" or Zack. Accordingly, and unless there is a verifiable source, I conclude that it should not remain on wikipedia. Cbl62 (talk) 22:04, 5 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

if no one is forthcoming with thirdparty sources (i.e. news articles, books on related subjects which discuss him, etc.) then this article can be taken to AFD and you can make your case there. auto-biography is not a reason for speedy deletion, while auto-biographies usually end up violating either WP:CSD G11 or WP:CSD A7, this one did not. -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 18:09, 6 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
