Year of death

[edit]

he is listed under persons who have been executed as having died in 1944; his entry lists 1941. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.21.21.50 (talkcontribs) 00:53, September 30, 2005 (UTC).

Executions

[edit]

"Pekurinen refused to wear a uniform or carry arms, and was therefore executed in Suomussalmi, becoming the last person to be sentenced to death in Finland."

Is this true? It can't be true if he really was executed in 1941, because there had to be executions after that as Finland was in war until 1945. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.222.50.237 (talkcontribs) 14:13, December 22, 2005 (UTC).

Armistice

[edit]

--Finland signed an armistice in 1944. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.216.199.10 (talkcontribs) 16:43, February 9, 2006 (UTC)

  • With Soviet union yes, but Finland fought against German forces in Lapland until 1945.

I added a pretty unimpressive link at the bottom of this page so at least it has a source. I just hope the link didn't just get its information off of here. --KobaVanDerLubbe 00:06, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The site you linked to is a Wikipedia mirror, evident at the bottom of the page. I've removed the link. ›mysid () 09:27, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Park

[edit]

I think that the name of the park in Helsinki should be "Pekurinen" not "Pekurisen" as typed. I haven't changed it as I know nothing about the Finnish language. I did change one line (about his orders to wear a uniform and carry a weapon)that looked as though it had been translated from another language, to make the English style flow better--AssegaiAli 03:23, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pekurisen is correct, as the word undergoes consonant mutation when declined in genitive ("Arndt Pekurinen's Park"). Thanks for the corrections! ›mysid () 04:22, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
