[edit]"During the Middle Ages, Armenians established a new kingdom in Cilicia, which despite its strong European identity" what can be strongly european about a kingdom founded in asia in the middle ages? that its inhabitants are christian? there was no european identity till late 20th century. this one sounds like a pov.
"During the Ottoman period, the Levantine Armenian communities had diminished in number because of previous conflicts" self contradictory: how coud it be diminished during a 600 yrs long period because of "previous conflicts". and what are those: "such as the Mamluk invasion of Cilicia, Tamerlane's invasion of Syria, the Ottoman invasion and the Crimea Wars in the 1850's and 1870's" events that span a millennium, not necessarily ottoman.
- What it means is that the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia had European influence. For example Cilician leaders got rid of many of the old Armenian titles and got European/Frankish ones such as "baron". French and Latin languages were used alongside Armenian, and so on... For the other part that you removed, I am not too sure... However the article about the AKofC does say that many Armenians left Cilicia after Mamelukes came. Oh and there was also the population drop during the Hamidian massacre, Adana massacre, and Armenian genocide. -- Davo88 02:05, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
