Clean up article

[edit]

The initial article had some text that was a direct copy from other websites. This has been cleaned up and/or removed per WP:CV. Also, some of the text violated Wikipedia's neutral point of view (see WP:NPOV), and this has also been cleaned up by simply stating facts. For example, rather than say "... is a notable figure", just say what he has done and let the reader decide it is notable. This is a good start to an article and we look forward to its improvements in the future. Truthanado 10:31, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Made some significant changes today. I have streamlined this wiki page, updated content with recent activity, fixed chronology, added links and fleshed out the overall content here to provide a more accurate page. Also merged "recent activity" with overall "Music" section. Additionally, eliminated some content not directly associated with Nalbandian's music or career. Will look to continue to refine this page, with content and accuracy. WalkerJazz (talk) 19:39, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Need for reliable 3rd party sourcing of statements in the article

[edit]

This biography has been referenced predominantly against the artist's own website, press releases visible on AllAboutJazz and a Blog review. These are not strong enough: see WP:SELFPUBLISH. The one durable reference as things stand is the article by "Leyta" from "FresnoFamous"; it is because of that one that the biography is labelled as "needs additional citations for verification" rather than having none. What is really needed is additional reference to bylined articles in 3rd party publications that cover Mr Nalbandian's achievements: there should be some out there that can confirm his notability? AllyD (talk) 09:25, 22 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • This article still stands in need of actual coverage in reliable 3rd party sources, hence the restored tags. AllyD (talk) 20:22, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • The added citations are not from blogs and PR: there are additional citations that are from reliable printed publications that are distributed internationally (i.e Hye Sharzoom, Armenian Reporter, the Collegian, AllMusic Guide etc). The discography citations are indeed from Mr. Nalbandian's artist website, as they provide needed information on the recordings. Some of the earlier references have been purged by the websites due to date of article, however that does not question the validity of the original article. The lack of press that Mr. Nalbandian agrees to should not have any negative impact on any validity of the wikipedia entry itself. All current citations are information based only. Please do not add tags again unless there is a specific concern regarding libelous or harmful material being added or without citing specific arguments as to why they are being questioned. Thank you for your diligence in ensuring that many Jazz artists are properly represented and for making sure the links in question are up to date. We will continue to monitor Mr. Nalbandian's page to ensure it is being correctly represented and cited. Lauriesteven (talk) 23:24, 6 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dear AllyD, the "we" in question are my husband and I. We are both retired professors and life-long jazz fans. While we would love to have the time to edit and contribute to other subjects, we have solely been just trying to keep up with Mr. Nalbandian's artistic pursuits and contributing the to Wikipedia as new projects of his are announced. Many times we see the announcements on the AllAboutJazz website. We do not have any personal or professional affiliation with Mr. Nalbandian, in fact our only contact has been as audience members a handful of times throughout the years. While we definitely appreciate your diligence in ensuring this entry among the others you monitor are cited correctly, we would appreciate not questioning our integrity and the integrity if our intentions by assuming any conflict of interest. Our only intention has been to update the entry on Mr. Nalbandian and keep it current. Perhaps with our recent retirement, we can begin contributing more to the entries of the artists we admire in between enjoying the time with our grandchildren. Given the artist's recent work, I will begin compiling 3rd party sources and updates to this wikipedia article. There seems to be several misalignments and overall omissions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WalkerJazz (talkcontribs) 19:21, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I have also begun updating Armen Nalbandian's AllAboutJazz Biography page and will look to mirror many of the changes. WalkerJazz (talk) 22:19, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
