Number of police

[edit]

I can't find a figure that says how many policemen there are. Student7 (talk) 19:09, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Working relationship with Sheriff

[edit]

I can't find anything that tells how the sheriff works with the police. Arlington is unusual for having identical jurisdictinos for both.

In Virginia jurisdictions that have both a police department and a sheriff's office, the sheriff's responsibilities are usually limited to jail administration, courthouse security, supervision of people in home arrest or work release, and civil process (evictions and summonses). Sheriff's deputies are law enforcement officers who can conduct arrests and such, but that's not their primary job. Rklear (talk) 21:24, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The content I removed at 13:03, August 13, 2017 also appeared at http://www.arlingtonva.us/Departments/Police/divisions/operations/sos/PoliceDivisionsOperationsSosDefault.aspx which was the citation included at the time the content was added and is now a dead link. The archive link is here. Click through on the links "Auxiliary Officer Unit", "Crisis Negotiation Unit", and so on to view the copyright content on the Arlington Virginia Police website. The content from that particular edit was originally added at 01:56, December 24, 2009. The reason I am posting here is because Alchetron, the site I mentioned in my original edit summary, is a Wikipedia mirror. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:47, 13 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
