Forests
[edit]"Impassable forests". This sounds like an exaggeration or flowery language. Both styles seem inappropriate for this article here. Andries 18:09, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
Map
[edit]Regarding the map: I can understand that, at least administratively, Nenets Autonomous Okrug can be classified along with Arkhangelsk Oblast; however, I feel that it is both confusing and misleading for the map of the oblast to include the okrug as if there were no divisions. --Brandon A. Blosser (talk) 23:33, 21 January 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure what you mean? The border between the oblast proper and NAO is shown on this map; further detalization (by districts) for a map this small a size would simply render the map unusable. Could you, please, clarify?—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 15:03, January 22, 2009 (UTC)
Oblast
[edit]Oblast means province, so you should think of correcting that. 71.99.102.177 (talk) 01:09, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
- "Oblast" is an English loanword and is the most precise term to use in this context. "Province" can be used colloquially or in passing, but never in the articles specifically about the topic, because it is far too ambiguous and can mean many more things besides "oblast", even in the context of Russia. If you think about how the terms "krai", "okrug", "guberniya", and "raion" can (and often are) translated as "province", you'll see what I mean.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 14:03, March 23, 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with topicstarter. "Oblast", "Krai", "Okrug" are not part of the name, but only attribute and sould be translated - "Oblast" is a Province, "Krai" is a Region, "Okrug" is a District Bearg (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 12:02, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
- This is however not what reliable sources do.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:24, 22 October 2021 (UTC)

Arts - 17st centuries
[edit]The icon-painting techniques were transferred to the traditional wood painting which has been known from 17st centuries in the valleys of the Northern Dvina ... I'm not nativ english, but “from 17st centuries” looks weird for me, should it be from 17th century or from 17 centuries? --Diwas (talk) 19:54, 24 November 2011 (UTC) BTW I guess “In 20st century ...” should be In 20th century, two of the authors of the Village prose movement in Soviet Literature or 21st? --Diwas (talk) 20:03, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, for your edits, now I see clear and change 17st → 17th and 20st → 20th at last. --Diwas (talk) 00:37, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, I must have overlooked those.--Ymblanter (talk) 06:22, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
Religions
[edit]Russian Orthodox (29.1%) + Unaffiliated Christian (6%) + Rodnover (1%) + Other Orthodox (1%) + Spiritual but not religious (32%) + Atheist (16%) + Other or undeclared (17.9%) = 103%. This canot be true. --131.220.75.100 (talk) 15:08, 18 September 2015 (UTC)
- It's a combination of rounding, typos, and double-counting :) I've made changes to match what the cited source actually says; thanks for catching this!—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); September 18, 2015; 15:38 (UTC)
