Notability

[edit]

@Frayae: I saw that you tagged the article for notability. When I reviewed it at AfC I considered that he clearly met WP:ANYBIO, based on the Order of the Star of Italy being 'a well-known and significant award or honor'. If you think otherwise, please explain further here. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:16, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have no problem with that. I am not entirely sure which awards are 'a well-known and significant' yet, I will get there eventually. Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 16:37, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Hello, I spent some time to write and add comments on my page but I just saw you deleted them. May I ask why ? You mentioned about presenting reliable sources but this was about my qualifications and credentials for which I own and acquired during the years. What kind of confirmation do you need on my diving or parachuting certifications? Can you please re post them  ? Thanks,

Aristotelis — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aristotelis Zervoudis (talkcontribs) 12:48, 3 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Aristotelis Zervoudis: there are several problems here:
  • This is an autobiography. Writing autobiographies on Wikipedia is strongly discouraged.
  • You have a conflict of interest, and you need to follow the procedures for managing your conflict of interest, specifically by making edit requests here on the article talk page rather than making edits to the article yourself.
  • The information you added to the article may be factual, but how can readers tell if it is or not? One of the key principles of Wikipedia is verifiability. Any statement made in a biography may be challenged and deleted unless it is supported by a citation from a reliable source, showing where the information has been sourced from. If there is no such source available because you are writing about your own knowledge of your life, that is not allowed, and such statements will be deleted. Only re-add the information if you include appropriate sources. See Wikipedia:Inline citation for how to do this. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 16:00, 3 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
You need to find a reliable source reporting the facts you want to add. It's a matter of the facts being verifiable in a reliable source. This is nothing to do with whether the facts are true or not, only the Wikipedia verifiability policy. Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 16:02, 3 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
as said you deleted the list of my certifications for which there is no actual way to confirm except if I scan all the certificates on paper and send them to you !
I wonder if you would accept them if a third party makes the edit and add them.
Thanks

The Wikipedia policy does not allow for this, your certifications have to be reported in a published source. The published source has to meet the reliable sources policy. This isn't us being difficult on purpose, it is just what the policy says. Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 10:02, 4 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to add title (Cavaliere) before the full name (source is already provided in the article), and birth date, please advise. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aris2018 (talkcontribs) 13:01, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Aris2018: I have added the 'Cavaliere' title in front of your name. I have not added your birth date, as I cannot find a source for this. Dreamy Jazz 🎷 talk to me | my contributions 13:38, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to add the article for the ORIA on the Greek Wikipedia for additional reference. https://el.wikipedia.org/wiki/%CE%91%CF%84%CE%BC%CF%8C%CF%80%CE%BB%CE%BF%CE%B9%CE%BF_%CE%8C%CF%81%CE%B9%CE%B1 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aris2018 (talkcontribs) 12:51, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
