News to me

[edit]

Why, if it is not yet transactional, does the Open Database Alliance call it "the Maria transactional storage engine" on their front news page "Welcome to The Open Database Alliance". 13 May 2009.?--87.162.2.166 (talk) 00:21, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

-Because the development team regard this feature as high priority (basically plan to implement asap) and therefore regard doing a rename as more confusing than starting out with a description of what it should very quickly be.128.250.5.247 (talk) 23:49, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Original documentation states that Aria can indeed be transactional — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.67.191.190 (talk) 13:52, 15 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rename

[edit]

Maria has been renamed to Aria. http://askmonty.org/wiki/Rename_Maria --77.59.247.14 (talk) 14:17, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

-Agreed. I propose this page be moved to http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Aria_(storage_engine) 128.250.5.247 (talk) 23:59, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Maria (storage engine)Aria (storage engine) — The name of this engine is now Aria. It was renamed to avoid confusion with its database, MariaDB. See refs on main page for details. 128.250.5.247 (talk) 00:05, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It says MariaDB "is" a database but there is a difference between a database and a database _manager_, and MariaDB is a database manager, isn't it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.89.134.0 (talk) 09:35, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Nobody actually uses the term "database manager" (or "database management system") in real life. I think it's appropriate to call MariaDB a "database". -- intgr [talk] 10:06, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
