  • I would agree, but not yet. The NY PSC has approved the overlay, the NANPA has assigned the new code, but work has not advanced far enough that anyone could say that it will definitely come to pass. We should keep an eye on the situation, and I would say when and if the NANPA announces a "In Service Date", that would be a good time to change the title to "Area codes 518 and 838", change the "Area code 838" page to a redirect, and update all the NY State maps. If you take a look at Planned NPAs Not Yet in Service you will see that there were some proposals that were dropped, some even after planning letters were prepared.--Arg342 (talk) 09:41, 21 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
