The "writing system" and "phonology" sections are the same table twice
[edit]I think the Phonology section would be better with just IPA consonant and vowel charts potentially with the orthographical letters ⟨included⟩ and keep the table for the full alphabet in "Writing System"e. Jackass cooper (talk) 13:18, 11 August 2023 (UTC)
History
[edit]The history section has no history in it. It is more like current status. I looked at some of the links to other language Wiki articles to see whether there is any better history which I could translate, but the name Arawak is confusing as it can refer to the Arawak people, language group or one of the languages in the group, so it wasn't clear which the other articles refer to.Lkingscott (talk) 07:35, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
Misleading and confusing Arwak/Lokono articles within Wikipedia
[edit]The Lokono people article (Lokono) states: „the term 'Arawak' does not exist as a word anywhere in the Lokono language, and instead was given to them by the Warrau tribe“. However, the German Wikipedia, which only has an Arawak, not a Lokono site, says, that Arawak comes from the Lokono word „aru“, meaning cassava flower (https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arawak#:~:text=Die%20Arawak%2C%20Aruak%20oder%20Arawaken,Teilen%20Südamerikas%20finden%20oder%20fanden. )
Furthermore, this very article states that Awarak is a tribal name for the cassava plant. It doesnt specify which tribe named the plant/ the Awarak people. It comes off like the Awarak gave themselves the name, even though there shoulndt exist a Lokono word like Awarak and the name shouldve been given to them by an unrelated language, which would be the Warrau‘s language Warao.
