British Indian Army
[edit]Commander-in-Chief India in New Delhi was the seniormost officer in the [British] Indian Army, commanding multiple commands, which were often redesignated armies (Eastern Army (India), Southern Army etc) during World War II. Those armies/commands fought the Japanese in eastern India and Burma and had operational responsibilities on the North-West Frontier. The C-in-C's headquarters was GHQ India.
