This page seems to have a definite pro-Israel slant to the way it is written...

Yup, the zionist megaphone squadron are determined to either subjugate wiki articles to their POV or else destroy them trying. 221.255.16.58 (talk) 12:31, 21 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Note on Golda Meir

[edit]

The article contained an editorial comment which said 'Note: Golda Meir was Ambassador to the Soviet Union during this time and any deals or negotiations would be effectively meaningless)

The pre-state Jewish Agency Executive had no one with the rank of minister or ambassador. During the period in question, Golda (Meyerson) Meir was head of the Jewish Agency for Palestine's Political Department, and a member of the Peoples Council which became Israel's Provisional Council of State on 14 May 1948. It was afterward that she was appointed Minister to Moscow. see for example: http://www.jafi.org.il/education/100/people/BIOS/golda.html harlan (talk) 17:31, 26 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

General problems with the article

[edit]

1 The most important document, namely the cablegram from the Secretary of the Arab League to to the UN of 16 May was omittitted.

2 There are three references to Benny Morris but the name of the book in never mentioned.

3 The only reference to the boycott of 1945 is the article in the Jewish Virtual Libreary. Hardly an unbiassed reference.

4 What is the name of the book by Sachar?

5 The reference - http://books.google.com/books?id=sj5DqVLshOUC&pg=PA154 draws a blank.

6 On the face of it Esther R Cohen is hardly unbiassed.

7 Asaf Romirowsky is an \israeli army officer.

8 Oded Eran, a senior research associate at the Institute for National Security Studies, served as director of INSS from July 2008 to November 2011, following a long career in Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government positions.

8 Frida Ghitis on the face of it is unbiassed.

9 Arabs push Israel for final talks" Al Jazeera link drew a blank

10 Arab League envoys extend ‘hand of peace’ to Israel" The News International drew a blank.

In my view the article should be deleted. Trahelliven (talk) 08:31, 14 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Need context for statement about Abdullah and Meir

[edit]

In the 1948-1949 section: "The Egyptians knew of Abdullah's agreement with Meir and were determined to thwart Transjordan's territorial ambitions...."

Unfortunately neither Meir, nor an agreement between her and King Abdullah, are mentioned anywhere else in the article. Oakling (talk) 00:23, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
