This article is mostly uncommon variations.

[edit]

I've never heard of most of these variations and doubt that most of them are very common. I think the bulk of them should be deleted.

Also, I would like information on: where this is eaten, where the name is used, when the name was first recorded, and the earliest recorded mention of combining these three foods (or just peanut butter and celery). Any ideas?

For a location I can offer up central Newfoundland in the early 80s, but we called it ants on a log with the cheeze whiz and not peanut butter. For a source, I'm pretty sure it was demonstrated on an episode of Size Small. TheTyrant (talk) 21:00, 2 February 2009 (UTC)TheTyrant[reply]
The best I could do for Bmtm's requested info was add the statement about the 50s being the first time the name was used (citation: Oxford Companion to American Food and Drink). The combination might have been used earlier. It also seems like it was an American (US and Canada) snack--or at least that calling it "ants on a log" is an Americanism--but as this isn't crystal clear, I didn't put it in the article. The picture used does not look like peanut butter.

[edit]

Perhaps it should be labeled as "Ants on a Snowy Log" and a better picture should be uploaded. Boxfresh151 (talk) 19:03, 14 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Chocolate Rain

[edit]

"Chocolate Rain on a Log" Really? With a link to Tay Zonday? Given that there is no source for this being the name of a common variant, I am going to remove it from the list. TheFlyingWallaby (talk) 05:52, 1 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not always just raisins on ants on a log

[edit]

There are other variations of toppings such as chocolate chips instead of raisins. D.steel (talk) 22:23, 28 February 2017 (UTC) http://www.stockpilingmoms.com/2013/07/ants-on-a-log/[reply]
