First reading

  • The lead section is rather short. It should summarise what is found in the body of the text.
  • It is not necessary to cite facts in the lead paragraph because they should be cited where they appear later in the article. Thus your reference #1 should appear in paragraph 1 of "Early life" and not in the lead.
  • "From 1951 to 1953 Berni lived in Santiago del Estero, a province in northwestern Argentina. The province was suffering massive ecological damage, including the exploitation of quebracho trees. While in Santiago del Estero he painted the series Motivos santiagueños and Chaco, the latter of which was exhibited in Paris, Berlin, Warsaw, Bucharest and Moscow." - I am not sure why the second sentence of this paragraph is included. Do the paintings mentioned in the third sentence (for which you have not provided English translations) illustrate ecological degradation?
  • "After a March 1976 coup Berni moved to New York City" - This sentence makes it seem that Berni had made a coup.
  • "His New York paintings display a great protagonism of color" - what does "protagonism" mean in this context?
  • Most of the prose is of high quality. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 09:51, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No response

[edit]

There has been no response from the nominator who I see has made no edits on Wikipedia for the past fortnight. I will leave a note on his talk page which may bring a response when he returns. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:21, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I was considering passing this article as a GA notwithstanding what I have written above because, although there has been no response to my comments, in general I feel it is well written and meets the GA criteria. However I now see that the main image has dubious copyright status so I will wait for one further week before making a decision. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 06:41, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Still no response from nominator. I find the image I was querying is used in 10 foreign language Wikipedias So I have decided its use is probably permissible. I moved the citation mentioned above and I think all other GA criteria are met. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:13, 26 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
