Proposed merger of Anthony Hunt Associates

[edit]

I propose to merge Anthony Hunt Associates into this article(but would be happy for another editor to do this). The consultancy was established by Hunt, and he was presumably its senior partner (or equivalent). The current article does not establish that the consultancy has sufficient notability to merit a separate article. Please discuss. [@Nigel PG Dale:] Verbcatcher (talk) 18:52, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Also, the list of projects should be drastically pruned, possibly to leave only the buildings that have Wikipedia articles or those that have sufficient notability for an article. Verbcatcher (talk) 19:06, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Verbcatcher, I see no reason why these two articles shouldn't be merged. The Anthony Hunt article needs additional information, otherwise there will be an imbalance between the two. ":Also, the list of projects should be drastically pruned" - I don't agree here. The complete list shows that Anthony Hunt (Associates) was/were equally at home designing structures from concrete, aluminium and timber - not just from steel (for which he is justifiably famous).Nigel PG Dale (talk) 08:40, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

":Also, the list of projects should be drastically pruned" To add - the length of this lists gives testament to a long and successful career spanning five decades. Interested readers will be able to relate to many of the lines of this list - it is the lesser-known lines that will provide the interest - what an encyclopaedia is for!Nigel PG Dale (talk) 09:22, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

An encyclopaedia article should summarise information and highlight the most significant points, and not rely on readers to interpret raw lists. For example, you might add:
  • Although Hunt and his consultancy were best known for their work on steel structures, they also worked on structures in concrete, aluminium and timber.
  • Hunt had a long career, working on major projects from the 1960s to the 2000s.
Cite your sources for a few buildings to support these statements.

Again, Verbcatcher, I'll waste no more of your time - or my own.Nigel PG Dale (talk) 14:03, 31 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Nigel PG Dale:, @Onel5969:, @MB:. I've copied across the sites that look the most prominent, look really exciting (if the image is there) , are large projects or/and have the best references. Does anybody want to have a look and see if it is OK, before I G6 the article, or redirect it. Thanks. scope_creepTalk 16:49, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Scope creep, looks good to me. No reason to delete, it should stay as a redirect. Thanks. MB 17:03, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@MB: Thats good. I guess more can be added to article as the person quite prominent. I'll redirect it. scope_creepTalk 17:07, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

See Anthony Hunt Talk Page. I suggest listed buildings form the basis of the list of selected worksNigel PG Dale (talk) 17:12, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
