Primary sources

[edit]

The tweets in Anthony_Fowler#Participation_in_Right-Wing_Protest should be referenced to wp:thirdparty sources to establish their notability and effects. Pieceofmetalwork (talk) 12:32, 5 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the paragraph that was sourced entirely to these tweets due to WP:BLP concerns. This information should only be added again if secondary sources are provided. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 13:59, 6 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, @Isabelle Belato
Really appreciate your edit and notes, but I would like to query how a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Anthony Fowler himself, proclaiming for the world to see that he is attending these "protests," how can this not be a reliable source? I understand that third-party sources from balanced and impartial media is the number one source for referencing, but, surely the individual themselves posting about an activity they are participating with video evidence is reliable enough? MssInformed (talk) 21:40, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Unless secondary sources discuss this person's participation in the protests, this information is very likely WP:UNDUE. Not only that, the paragraphs contained sentences such as Antony Fowler faced significant public and media backlash following his participation in a right-wing protest concerning UK immigration issues, which is not sourced to WP:RS and, as such, a WP:BLP violation. Isabelle Belato 🏳‍🌈 21:53, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with @Isabelle Belato, in this case, the claim about Fowler’s involvement in protests, based solely on his own post, lacks the necessary context and neutrality. The post/source has since been deleted, and including such content without additional reliable sources does not align with Wikipedia’s guidelines for accuracy and neutrality. Furthermore, many others made similar posts in that period, which highlights the need for a balanced view, there's no need to single out him. Priscilla Mits (talk) 15:00, 12 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
