File:Anthomyiidae sp.jpg to appear as POTD soon
[edit]Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Anthomyiidae sp.jpg will be appearing as picture of the day on April 28, 2011. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2011-04-28. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page so Wikipedia doesn't look bad. :) Thanks! howcheng {chat} 16:55, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

[edit]The classification section needs a source because classification of Anthomyiidae has changed radically over the past 50 years. I have not seen any modern works use subfamily names. Hennig and Griffiths recognized groups of related genera.
The description is incorrect at least in part, the statement "except in Chelisia Rd." This paragraph is a close paraphrase of a regional treatment, Keys to the insects of the European Part of the USSR. In modern terminology Chelisia is the Anthomyia monilis species group, and Acridomyia, the New World Coenosopsia, and possibly a neotropical genus also have incomplete anal vein.
