Picture of juvenile?

[edit]

I think the article would benefit from a photograph of a juvenile fangtooth. BearGlyph (talk) 12:19, 27 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ultra-black

[edit]

This is one of the species mentioned prominently, and pictured, in Ouellette, Jennifer (2020-07-18). "Scientists unlocked the secret of how these ultrablack fish absorb light". Ars Technica. Retrieved 2020-07-18. Others are Idiacanthus antrostomus and Poromitra crassiceps, though "Osborn and her colleagues found these pigment patterns in 16 distantly related species." Thanks for updating this article, User:Cwmhiraeth, you worded it better than I could have done.
Chiswick Chap beat me to it and created Camouflage#Ultra-blackness. Unfortunately the researchers couldn't measure reflectance curves for A. cornuta, but did perform microscopy. [1][2]
