Article says "Schleu has also faced a backlash against her repeated use of the whip and rough handling of her horse,[6] including by German olympic team member and equestrian medal record holder Isabell Werth, who stated "This has nothing to do with equestrian sport".[7]"

In the linked article, Werth says “Fünfkampf hat nichts, aber auch gar nichts mit Reiten zu tun”, i.e. "**Pentathlon** has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with riding". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2a02:1205:c68c:92b0:2407:b69f:63ad:5b08 (talk)

I concur, and the article goes on for her to repeat the criticism of Modern Pentathlon, and characterises it as "confirming" her poor opinion of equestrianism a la pentathlon, from a 'pure' equestrian perspective. (i.e. the "bring your own horse" sort.) , Rather than any sort of "this is the rogue act of one bad apple" sentiment, as the (mis)quote implies. So this isn't really a very apt source to use here at all, and if anything should be in some sort of 'controversies' section in the MP article, or the like. But there should be plenty of on-topic sources being specifically critical of Schleu, including from MP sources (and no doubt other more focused criticism from other BYOH equestrians, too). If there's no disagreement with we two mere IP editors on this, I'll formalise this as an edit-SP request shortly. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 14:09, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Resolved now (by the kindness of an ESP stranger). I'd still argue it's probably not really appropriate here at all, and while the comment was prompted by Schlau's debacle in Tokyo, is actually about the broader topic, and including it here is a case of WP:recentism. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 23:46, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. This seems to be original research or personal commentary, which is not appropriate for Wikipedia. — Lauritz Thomsen (talk) 10:02, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Per this discussion above, Isabell Werth is being misquoted, mistranslated, and cited extremely misleadingly in the context the quote appears. Accordingly, please replace "This has nothing to do with equestrian sport" with "Pentathlon has nothing to do with equestrian sport". (Emph. added.) This will remove the incorrect impression that she was being specifically critical of Schleu (which further may have BLP implications), rather than of pentathlon showjumping as a whole. Other changes my be deemed prudent to make sense of the rest of the section (and maybe dropped this quote entirely as not especially biographically relevant), but an accurate quote should be a bare minimum change. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 12:09, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As this athlete has changed her name-- would it be acceptable to move this page to the new name re Wikipedia:Moving a page ? Nayyn (talk) 13:58, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think it depends on what reliable sources call her now. Red Fiona (talk) 19:18, 7 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She is listed under her married name in her World Pentathlon documentation, Olympics, International press as well as in the German press
