I've removed several claims, including some related to living people, referenced only to the subject's own website or Youtube, which do not meet WP:RSFrFintonStack (talk) 01:47, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Journalist? According to whom? Moreover, who/what is her source of funding?

[edit]

We need to be very careful about whom we deem "journalists" in the Wikisphere. What makes McElhinney a journalist? The fact that she's made documentaries? So what! So has Michael Moore and I doubt that anyone, even most liberals, would call him a journalist. He's a biased partisan with an agenda and so is McElhinney. That being said, if anyone can find any sources for the claim that she is a journalist, then by all means let's include them in the article.

Another thing - do we know who funds her projects? What companies with a stake in the continuation of fracking have her on their payroll? It's clear that McElhinney, like Moore with his far-left agenda, is on her own agenda to spread her pro-fracking propaganda, no matter how many people become ill, no matter how many organisms perish, no matter how many cubic miles of drinking water are forever soiled. If she is going to make it her mission to reach as many people as possible to spread her message, the public has a right to know how such a message is being financed and who her funders are. Wikipedia should play a role in disclosing said funders. Dutch MacGruber (talk) 16:57, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Merge?

[edit]

I'll propose this formally if necessary, but I'm not sure that McElhinney and McAleer are independently notable. Their articles are nearly identical because all of their projects are collaborations. –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 03:39, 8 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Publicity? One-sided?

[edit]

There is much criticism of the credentials, political bias and quality and reliability of the output of this couple. The article reads like a one-sided publicity exercise supporting their controversial approach, rather than an encyclopaedic article and critique of their output. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.157.215.120 (talk) 05:24, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that this needs a section on criticism, or proper balancing of each of their statements. It is clearly un-encyclopedic (and against wikipedia rules) to leave statements without or little basis in fact (and ones that are very controversial), stand without pointing that out to the reader.

Strikes me there would also be some information on any connection they may have to the organized and well-funded denialist movement.

In that connection, there is no information on how they fund their projects, which is a glaring omission especially when compared to similar entries on other filmmakers' work, especially independents. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 126.253.9.240 (talk) 05:22, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is all still a huge problem with the article. It would be better that the article be stricken rather than be misinforming to readers.50.194.115.156 (talk) 17:27, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that the anon editor is not working to fix the article or contribute but rather to attack the subject of the article politically and to get the article removed. The anon editor has zero credibility.--CharlesShirley (talk) 19:44, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
