The ankel tap is mainly used when an opostions player is faster then the defending player. The defender may not be able to catch the attacking player causing him to dive and tap the heel of the attacker. This will trip up the attacker and usually makes him/her fall.

Hooking somebody foot(feet) isn't a true ankle tap. An ankle tap, as the name suggest, is performed by slapping (tapping) the ball carrier's ankle aside, in the direction to his other foot. This is doing when the foot in the air behind the guy and therefore only small force and short time contact is required to move it. As tapped foot goes forward it catches other leg sending the player tumbling to the ground -- the guy really trips over his own foot. 95.84.50.184 (talk) 23:07, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
