Wikidata conflict
[edit]Hello. Seems like this page was redirected in January, perhaps a fusion of different but simillar terms like Animanga, Manganime (from Japan) and Dongman, from China.
Now we have an issue because this new article links to the wikidata entry for Dongman, which is a separate entry in languages such as Chinese, Japanese or Catalan. Perhaps the previous fusion was wrong, perhaps we should create a new Q for English and Czech, which seems to be in the same situation.--TaronjaSatsuma (talk) 19:42, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
- "Dongman" *is* literally "anime and manga" in Chinese. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 01:27, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, but it is used to descrive the "anime and manga" made in China. Perhaps we should split the wikidata item, making a difference between those languages which use "Dongman" for Chinese only manganime, and those who use it for "anime and manga" no matter where it is made.--TaronjaSatsuma (talk) 09:32, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
- No, that's not true. In Chinese it is used to refer to anime and manga in general. In English "dongman" is used to refer to Chinese animation, but we do not have an article on this topic on either English or Chinese Wikipedia. It's like how "salsa" just means sauce in Spanish, but it has taken on a specific meaning in English. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 16:20, 13 January 2021 (UTC)

Yes, I made a mistake in my first message, but that doesn't changes the reasoning: this article is linking to a Wikidata Q that descrives "Dongman", understood as "Chinese anime and manhua". The Japanese article and the Catalan talk about "Chinese anime and manhua", so are linked to the proper Wikidata Q. Perhaps it's just my problem and I should do the fork in Wikidata.--TaronjaSatsuma (talk) 19:15, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
