Strange Sentences

[edit]

I don't know what this sentence is supposed to mean - "These dollars were then spent in the UK rather than in the UK...". Presumably one of the "UK"s is supposed to be a "US", but I don't know which.

Date of Loan Commencement

[edit]

The article could maybe do with information on when the loan was given to Britain and also information on the negotiations which got Britain the loan (the bits of information I came here to find!). Pagw 11:05, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated the page with this and some other details - Mike. 87.114.66.245 (talk) 14:35, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

dollars were then spent

[edit]

It should read "These dollars were then spent in the US rather than in the UK...". I have changed it to the correct version. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.194.10.238 (talk) 11:05, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clean up

[edit]

I think I got this article to make some sense. Much of it is cribbed from the first reference. It needs to be consistent with the lend-lease article. BBerryhill 04:06, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

While this is tied with Lend-Lease, there was some confusion within this article. The loan was not primarily to pay off lend-lease debts. I have corrected the most glaring inadequecies here, but this article really needs an overhaul. If someone has the time, please check out the Cairncross and Clarke books I have referenced. These are two standard texts and all of the relevant details are contained. If noone does this I may update this article at a later time. 87.114.66.245 (talk) 14:35, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

2 % interest

[edit]

I have put the interest in with the only reference that I can find as 1. But I do not know how to link on the page and this is not given in help below. Can this be linked by someone who knows how. I may come back and sort this out. Reg nim (talk) 21:49, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Loan Was Used For Social Reforms

[edit]

I don't know who wrote the paragraph including stating that the loan was not being used to pay for social reforms, it most certainly did, my grandfather worked at the Treasury and huge sums from the loan went into financing Labour's schemes, the US was adamant that the loan wasn't used for social experiments, however vast sums were re-directed to both the NHS and Welfare.Twobells (talk) 19:53, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Evans 2008? Keith-264 (talk) 20:35, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A mystery but i did a work-around. It's a bad citation method that often fails. Rjensen (talk) 21:23, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Keith-264: The Evans 2008 reference was "Evans, Richard J. (2008). The Third Reich at War: How the Nazis led Germany from Conquest to Disaster (2 Oct 2008 ed.). Allen Lane; First Edition, First Impression edition. ISBN 9780713997422. {{cite book}}: Invalid |ref=harv (help) - Total pages: 912 ".
