Record catalog numbers from history

[edit]

A while ago, someone took the time to add the record catalog numbers for each of Andy Williams's release. In an effort to clean up the discography on the main article page, I removed a lot of information, including the record catalog numbers. Should an Andy Williams discography page ever be made, which would be more suitable for these types of details, the record catalog numbers can be found here. – Kerαunoςcopiagalaxies 15:24, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've incorporated the catalog numbers into the references on each album page as a way of citing the original album as the source of information like album credits. I looked at other discographies that were similar in size to this one and wasn't seeing catalog numbers included in any of them, so this seemed like the best way to make the numbers available. Religion

[edit]

Any one happen to know what Religion he was raised in? Kilowattradio (talk) 23:44, 4 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's in his recent memoir. I'll see if I can find the book and look it up. 78.26 (talk) 03:27, 5 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bold text==Photograph== May I suggest that this page uses a photo of Mr Williams when he was at his peak of popularity (I think the 1960s and 1970s). I know the current photo is fairly recent however I would prefer to remember him in his prime. Keelback (talk) 15:43, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The main photograph of Andy's face that you have at the top of this article is NOT Andy Williams the singer
at all. Andy had dark brown hair and huge blue eyes. Believe me...Isabel Monteith, Administrator,

"Lifelong" Republican

[edit]

If he campaigned for the Kennedys at one point, he was not a "lifelong" Republican: some rewording needed, depending on whether he was a pre-Kennedy Republican or not. Rothorpe (talk) 15:01, 26 September 2012 (UTC) ---Done.[reply]

Death

[edit]

Apparently, BBC says it's bladder cancer. He left hospital in July and spent his last days with family. Article found here.

Question: Want to add Health and/or Death section?

Narrenburg (talk) 17:12, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No. Inappropriate. The article should remain positive and to emphasise his death any more than how it reads at present would be unpleasant.

Nicknames

[edit]

Does anyone have sources for the nicknames that keep re-appearing? Are they in general use when referring to Mr. Williams? If not, should they be in the article? I've heard of a couple of them, but not many. 78.26 (talk) 17:13, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Neither have I. They have no place in the Info' box, and I am doubtful that they have in the body of the article. -- Gareth Griffith-Jones/GG-J's Talk 19:52, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If there are reliable sources, the names could be worked into the body of the article, I suppose, although I'm not inclined to do so unless the sources are very good. But in any case they are not "aliases", and they don't belong in the infobox. That field is usually for names that a person used to identify him or herself, or sometimes for names that are widely used for a person - like, say "The Velvet Fog" for Mel Torme. I'm removing them again as there is also no consensus for this. Happy to discuss, of course. Tvoz/talk 05:44, 29 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Multitracking
I posted the following on the editor's Talk page this morning

Good morning Wllmlos,

Thank you for your editing on the Andy Williams article last night. I have copy-edited your revision –  – added an hyperlink to multitracking –  – and a template asking for a citation. I have to warn you that the statement regarding his brothers must be referenced, otherwise it will have to be be removed.

Cheers!

Macgyver episode?

[edit]

Why is a fictional TV episode, although cool trivia, included for sourcing a rumor about vocals? It doesn't contain any special knowledge as in: a friend starred on, or "in the know" person scripted, with its explanation of the episode. Was Macgyver a favorite show of Andy Williams; is there a connection not stated? I don't think it belongs, it's a fiction about a rumor that should be removed. Could someone with more Andy Williams' expertise please talk with me on this before I remove it as an invalid WP source? Thanks. Jennablurrs7575 (talk) 21:04, 4 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Spouse name?

[edit]

In the "sidebar" box saying "Wikinews has related news: Singer Andy Williams dies at 84"
https://en.wikinews.org/wiki/Singer_Andy_Williams_dies_at_84
it says he married Debbie Haas.
This article says Debbie Meyer.
I'll leave this for an authority to resolve.2600:6C56:6600:1ECF:CCD2:3B84:CB51:A9CA (talk) 05:38, 22 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's Debbie Haas née Meyer. She seems to have used both names. Ghmyrtle (talk) 17:02, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
