Why does his biography include absolutely no information about what he did between being a teenager and writing a best seller in middle age? Is this the Gospel of Andy? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.191.57.40 (talk) 13:26, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]- The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: page moved. Although the target page has some history none of it is significant for copyleft purposes. The only objection below has been well answered. Andrewa (talk) 00:53, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
Andy Andrews (writer) → Andy Andrews — Andy Andrews is currently set up as a disambiguation name page, however, I would like to move Andy Andrews (writer) to Andy Andrews. I have created a more accurate personal name disambiguation page located at Andy Andrews (disambiguation) which points to both Andy Andrews the writer and Andy Andrews (tennis). --Cjradio07 (talk) 21:06, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
- Comment to the nominator. You seem to be a relatively new user, so you may be unfamiliar with the policies and guidelines that concern this issue. These guidelines can be found on Wikipedia:Disambiguation. Concerning this case, because there are two "Andy Andrews" articles, the "disambiguation page" listing all the existing "Andy Andrews" articles is currently at Andy Andrews, the writer is at Andy Andrews (writer), and the tennis player is at Andy Andrews (tennis). This is the usual method of doing this. Now what you are asking us to do is to make the writer the "primary topic" (with no terms in parentheses in the title). However, you have not yet explained your reasons why you feel this page move is warranted. Why do you feel, under Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Is there a primary topic?, that the writer is the "Andy Andrews" that is much more likely than any other to be the subject being sought when a reader enters that ambiguous term in the Search box? Thanks. Zzyzx11 (talk) 04:19, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose as there is no evidence this is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Tassedethe (talk) 15:12, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
- Primary Topic Reasoning. I am still learning more about editing Wikipedia, so I apologize for the lack of evidence initially. Following Wikipedia:Disambiguation#Is there a primary topic?, here are my reasons. Andy Andrews (writer) is an active author that is continuing to produce books that are read around the World (http://www.thomasnelson.com/consumer/AuthorDetail.asp?CreatorID=2264&lastname=Andrews&firstname=Andy). He is also a current, active speaker, to corporations and schools. He produces educational curriculum that is currently taught in middle schools and high schools. Students are actively searching for Andy Andrews to either complete parts of the curriculum, or learn more about Andy Andrews (writer). Andy Andrews (tennis) is a former tennis player and currently not active in the public eye, evident by the Wiki article, to where Andy Andrews (writer) would be more viable as a "primary topic". Also, using Wikipedia article traffic statistics, from January 2011 to current, Andy Andrews (writer) page has been viewed 1,926 times, whereas Andy Andrews (tennis) has only been viewed, during the same period, a total of 423 times. Conducting a Google search on Andy Andrews identifies that links pertaining to Andy Andrews (writer) are also the top links displayed in the search. With this information, and with Andy Andrews (writer) being used for education purposes, Andy Andrews (writer) should be moved to Andy Andrews as the "primary topic" and the Andy Andrews (disambiguation) page should be used instead to reference both the writer and tennis player. -- Cjradio07 (talk) 16:31, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
