Name

[edit]

Whether name of father of artist was Daniel is not known as his father is not known. He is registered in Liggeren as Daniels and Danieels. His only signed work is signed Andries Daniels. There are no contemporary resources that I know of that mention his name as Danielsz. Key scholars Susan Merriam, Hans Vlieghe, Ursula Härting, F.G. Meijer and the important source RKD write his name as Daniels. Flemish names were rarely written with the sz. at the end in 17th century. this was more common in Holland. Daniels was a very common name in 16th and 17th century Flanders. So no basis for changing article to Danielsz. or for reference to patronimic (which is unsourced). n Speedogonsales (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:33, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
