Ancyloscelidini is not a valid name, unfortunately

[edit]

Since WP:NOR prohibits it, I cannot change this article, but I have just today been asked (in my capacity as an ICZN Commissioner) to examine Roig-Alsina & Michener, 1993 to determine whether their new name was made available under the rules of the ICZN. It turns out that they did not provide a diagnosis or description of the new subtribe they proposed (on p. 159), therefore the name violates Article 13.1 of the ICZN Code, and was not made available. The name "Ancyloscelidini" was not made available until 2005, 10 years after Silveira published the name Teratognathini for the same clade. As such, Teratognathini is the valid name for this tribe of bees, not Ancyloscelidini. Someone, somewhere, is going to have to publish this correction, however, before the change can be made to Wikipedia. Dyanega (talk) 18:44, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
