General Comments

[edit]

This article covers a wide range of information about A. suspensa. It has a bit of extraneous information and repetition, so I removed a few Wikipedia links to common words and any information common to insects / not specific to the species. A strength of this article is how it touches on so many different topics about the fly. A potential topic to continue research would be Genetics to continue adding content about the fly. Overall, the article is well-written, could use some additional citations to be fully verifiable, covers a wide breadth, remains neutral, and is well-illustrated. Try to keep tense consistent throughout the article, as well as keeping "A. suspensa" either singular or plural throughout the article. Joshkim_wustl (talk) 02:58, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

This page has been dramatically improved in the past weeks! Thank you to the author. There are a couple of headings with barely any information under them; for example, the mimicry, microbiome, and mutualism sections basically just say that there is insufficient research on these topics related to the fly. I understand why you want to include these headings, but it might be best to omit them or move them to another section. Behavioral Ecology Peer Edit

[edit]

I found this article to be complete in terms of scope of topics covered and the depth in which they are explored. However, this led to quite a few glaring grammar/spelling errors that were quickly fixed. I tried to make all the verb tenses correspond to a plural form of the species as noted to be a necessary fix by Joshkim_wustl. I also notice a few citations are missing. I went ahead and assumed that "darge green" was simply "dark green" and made the according change. I also consolidated the sections on "Distribution" and "Home range and territory" into "Distribution and territory".

Overall, this article is written well and contains a lot of good content already. The previous edits that have been made on the article are sound and also help to improve the flow of the paper. I went ahead and edited some grammatical mistakes in the article that were glaring. For example, the intro section had a line that read: “A. suspensa have had grave agricultural and economic implications.” I changed the tense so this article (and the rest of the article) was in the present tense. Other than that, the article has a ton of good information and is very interesting. Nikhilaggarwal123 (talk) 06:06, 03 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Content Questions

[edit]

Joshkim_wustl (talk · contribs) Thank you to the primary author of this article for contributing! A few suggestions to improve the article further: "A. suspensa have had grave agricultural and economic implications." Elaborate on why A. suspensa is problematic for agriculture and the economy. The home range and territory section is too short, and doesn't contain enough relevant information. Consider adding more information or just moving the information from that section into another section. In the Life History and Cycle section, please fix the caption for the picture, as right now it's showing a bunch of random numbers. The "marking" subsection could use some elaboration on why these flies mark. Is it solely to mark territory? In general, the article is somewhat wordy and repeats information. The whole article could be improved by being more concise. Joshkim wustl (talk) 04:00, 17 October 2019 (UTC) There are a handful of missing citations, especially at the ends of paragraphs - is there any way to recover the sources to this information to properly cite everything? In addition, it may be helpful to create Wikipedia links to names of other species names mentioned, as it is currently difficult to relink these organisms with only the species abbreviations included. Photo Placement

[edit]

For the photo captioned "A. suspensa on a leaf," is there a better location where this could be placed? It seems a little random by the Sound and Hearing subsection. XuLily (talk) 02:58, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is the picture of tropical fruits necessary? The second picture of fruits also has a strange caption which should be changed. Joshkim_wustl (talk) 03:12, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
