Proto-Anarchism

[edit]

I was wondering if it would be worth adding proto-anarchist schools of thought to the list? These could include Cynicism, Hedonism, Hussitism, Kharijism, Mazdakism, Mutazilism, Stoicism and Taoism, among others. Grnrchst (talk) 12:01, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No objections as long as it's sourced with context, but I think the better move for this entire article is to merge it back into Anarchism, considering that it only copies other subarticle ledes as a list overview and has complete overlap with what should be covered more succinctly in the parent article. czar 05:40, 29 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Anarchist philosophy properly

[edit]

The redirection from Anarchist philosophy to this article on the schools of thought should be dismissed in favor of creating an independent article on anarchist philosophy properly speaking - which means neither 'philosophical anarchism'(criticized by a proper philosophy of anarchism) nor internal programatic discussions, but would rather refer to the growing scholarship on the issue of a distinct and coherent anarchist philosophy[1]. Some exciting books have come out recently[2], not no mention some good scholarship that have been there for a while. So, the anarchist philosophy page needs to be liberated to a different use. How to improve this?

[edit]

As this article exists, it's little more than a prosified list, a sequence of summaries of other articles and often using poor sourcing that the main articles themselves have since excised. If this article exists merely to list different anarchist schools of thought, then why does it need to be so long? Why does every school of thought demand its own large sections, when a short paragraph or even a single sentence could suffice? -- Grnrchst (talk) 08:56, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

From where I stand, this is an overview article that didn't need to be split from Anarchism. It can be sufficiently summarized there since it's just pointing to subtopics and doesn't need to give more than the shortest intro to each major area. czar 14:25, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, I would support redirecting this to the relevant section of the anarchism article. --Grnrchst (talk) 17:13, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps some work on improving the article will be more productive than a WP:BOLD redirect. Simonm223 (talk) 15:21, 4 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This article is only a outline/list of what already exists in the Anarchism article, just with greater (unnecessary) length. Anyone who needs this level of detail can read the respective articles without requiring a full list.
It's also not a WP:BOLD redirect—it was discussed here and was untouched for over a year. If you have a different position that would resolve the above concerns, here's the place to discuss it. czar 05:52, 12 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
