Correct name
[edit]Note: the spelling Amschel Mayer James Rothschild is incorrect -- it should be Amschel Mayor James Rothschild. An earlier edit assumed that it was a typo since Mayer is a family name, but in fact Mayor is correct, being his mother's maiden name. His obituary and the family tree in his aunt's book confirm this. The Independent: Obituary by James Fergusson, 11 July 1996: "Amschel Mayor James Rothschild (the Mayor, being his mother's maiden name, was a nice joke) was the great-great-great-grandson of N.M. Rothschild...". --mervyn 12:28, 12 August 2007 (UTC)

Antisemitic conspiracy theory
[edit]Washing around the Internet since 1996 is an article published in The Spotlight by "Sasha Rakoczy" putting forward a conspiracy theory that Rothschild was murdered. This is complete non-sense amounting to vile antisemitic and/or far-right garbage (The Rothschilds are a favored target similar to George Soros). The Spotlight is an antisemitic paper, now shut down after being forced into bankruptcy. The supposed author "Sasha Rakoczy" does not exist, except to have published this one article ie. a manufactured name spewing forth manufactured "facts". The conspiracy theory is often picked up by Illuminati publications to further their own conspiracy theories. The official coroner report says there was nothing suspicious about the case, and the police did not say it was murder. It has no place on Wikipedia and posts about here will be deleted under the rules of WP:FORUM and WP:FRINGE. -- GreenC 18:59, 12 September 2020 (UTC)
