Statements about the athlete's Sudanese background have been removed from the article [1] even though his transfer from Sudan to Qatar[2] indicates that he must have (had) some Sudanese background or some kind of link to Sudan at some point in his life. Are there any sources that could clear this up? Nakonana (talk) 20:45, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes sorry was away. It says Eligibility in the document which is different than transfer of allegiance. Eligibility doesn’t necessarily mean that he is from there but he is eligible to represent Sudan for a reason of the other. Transfer of Allegiance means that he did represent the country so it is more of a statement than Eligibility. Hope that clarifies? Alhitmi123 (talk) 22:47, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Alhitmi123 Thanks for your reply. I'm definitely no expert on this stuff, but don't sportspeople need to have the citizenship of the country they represent? Wouldn't that mean that he had the Sudanese citizenship at some point? Do we have any information on his place of birth? Nakonana (talk) 12:12, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
According to world athletics, eurosport, and if you type his place of birth in google it mentions Qatar. Im assuming that he is Qatari born to a Sudanese family. Alhitmi123 (talk) 18:50, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
