[edit]The article currently says:
"... and has argued publicly for the renewed use of DDT in sub-Saharan Africa to eradicate mosquito populations and combat malaria ..."
This needs a citation. It sounds like hyperbole. His calls for DDT use have, to my very limited knowledge, been for use of DDT in malarial control programs (like spraying in houses) not for the use of DDT for the "eradication" of mosquito populations. He has for example, called for indoor spraying see: http://www.canada.com/ottawacitizen/news/opinion/story.html?id=b7d60b16-a7ce-4e17-8179-ebbacb31675f&p=2
Also, this article had been defaced for a long time until I undid the edit.

Detainee Torture allegation
[edit]His claims can be considered dubious considering that he never produced the alleged documents, but isn't there at least some evidence to suggest what he's saying may be true? From what I can tell, the controversy is far from settled. I feel like something should be added to mention this. I believe many outside sources and the Wikipedia page (http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Canadian_Afghan_detainee_issue) back me up. Thoughts? Riffraff913 (talk) 17:00, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

- Amir Attaran got into a kerfuffle with a Twitter troll, so we can expect some tomfoolery on this site from the troll's fans (goblins?) Just a heads up that this page can expect vandalism.FrankForAllAndBirds (talk) 03:29, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
Amir is the troll. Check out his Twitter page, the guy is abusive towards others. There needs to be an update to his controversies section outlining his recent activity on social media and the fact that #lordmapleleaf is trending. 86.187.160.156 (talk) 07:29, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
I agree that his recent Twitter controversy should be documented, but it needs to be done in a neutral manner with reliable sources. Not sure what Wikipedia's policy is regarding using tweets as a source, but there have been several news articles written about it in the last day or two. Perhaps that's somewhere to start? 129.215.231.39 (talk) 12:28, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
Hey, so, I added a line about this, could definitely be expanded but probably shouldn't be until there is more distance between now and the events that transpired. Nonetheless, I think the controversies need to stick with the facts rather than various interpretations. He said something, attracted criticism for it, done. Alright, well, apparently the source "wasn't good enough" even though it was the best I could find so I guess this section will remain incomplete until the New York Times decides it's worth writing about I guess... Wvasiladiotis (talk) 14:23, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
