Not a typical biography

[edit]

This article is essentially the same as the article Siege_of_Calais_(1348). It doesn't say when and where Amery was born, died, lived or anything about him except the part he played in the incident of Calais, and what happened to him afterwards. If nothing else is known about him, then that should be said. 72.179.53.2 (talk) 23:08, 13 October 2012 (UTC) Eric[reply]

The trouble with stating in the article that nothing else is known about him is that just because I don't know anything else about him doesn't mean nothing else is known about him. Such a statement in an article text would also run afoul of WP:Verifiability, because it is an inherently unverifiable statement. I will add to this article as I am able, and I'm relatively certain other reliable sources exist, I just haven't had time to do further research yet. Someone in the UK or France may have access to sources I don't have. Wilhelm Meis (☎ Diskuss | ✍ Beiträge) 19:21, 3 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to Amery?

[edit]

Is there any more information as to what became of Amery after his plan failed? I find it hard to believe that for selling a strategic fortress to the enemy during wartime, he would be punished by a mere heraldic abatement. Zacwill16 (talk) 00:32, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sir Geoffrey de Charny - Sir?

[edit]

I can find no record of Geoffrey de Charny having an English knighthood.

Is there a reference for this, because his Wiki page makes no mention of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ganpati23 (talkcontribs) 20:39, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
