- Hi again, I'll review this! FunkMonk (talk) 03:23, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- Is there a reason why bullfrog redirects here? Seems to refer to several species, so I think it should redirect to the disambig page.
- Well, the page was originally "Bullfrog" and the Americans call it that so it seems reasonable. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:18, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- "whether Lithobates catesbeianus is a more correct name." Alternate wording: Whether it belongs in the genus Lithobates instead?
- The intro needs a physical description of the animal.
- "Aquarana group" Is this a subgenus?
- Its a clade. Rephrased. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:18, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- I imagine words like ventral and dorsal would be hard to swallow for laymen?
- "Exceptional bullfrogs can" Seems a bit loaded, how about "in some cases bullfrogs can"...
- "The bullfrog breeding season typically lasts two to three months.[18][19][20][21]" Why so many sources for such a simple claim? Not needed, but no problem either, really.
- Removed, here and in some other places. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:18, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- "Males only clasp females" link to amplexus?
- "Dominant tenure is the more strictly defined as" the?
- "Time to metamorphosis ranges from a few months in the southern part of the range to three years in the north." Could it be explained why?
- "comprises a pronounced biting motor pattern" comprises of?
- These sentences are written in very complicated and convoluted language: "The specialized ability of bullfrogs to capture submerged and large, strong prey comprises a pronounced biting motor pattern that follows up on the initial and typical ranid tongue strike.[36] Adaptation to target image displacement due to light refraction at the water-air interface consists of the bullfrog's application of tongue surface comparatively posterior to the perceived location of the prey target."
- Rephrased. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:18, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- Extremely long sentence, needs to be broken up: "Once within striking distance, the bullfrog begins its feeding strike, which consists of a ballistic lunge (eyes closed as during all leaps) that ends with the mouth opening, extension of the fleshy and mucous-coated tongue upon the prey, often engulfing it, while the jaws continue their forward travel to close (bite) in close proximity to the prey's original location, just as the tongue is retracted back into the mouth, prey attached."
- Rephrased. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:18, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- Perhaps describe the teeth under description?
- Thanks for taking on the review, I have dealt with the points you raise. With regards to the history of the article, all the behavioural part is a result of the behavioural ecology class that mass nominated articles for GA last autumn. I reviewed this article at that time and made certain suggestions for its improvement, such as that it should have an adequate description of the frog. There was no response to my comments so I eventually failed it. Subsequently I worked on the article this spring to try to remove the failings that I had identified. - All looks good. In regard to the disambig, I still think it should be redirected elsewhere, as can be seen on Bullfrog (disambiguation), this is a very general term, and it would be kind of Americanocentric to redirect it here. FunkMonk (talk) 13:59, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- Done. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 12:18, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- Cool, and now the GA bot also works again, so the star will be added automatically. Passed! FunkMonk (talk) 12:26, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
