ASL IV
[edit]I can find no information verifying the existence of the fourth version of the American Soccer League. If no information surfaces in the next couple of days, I will remove ASL IV from this page as unverified. KitHutch 20:59, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- Since nobody has listed any proof that ASL IV exists, I have deleted the section about them. Once proof is afford about its existence, I will restore the section. I highly doubt that this league does exist. I live near Syracuse, NY and have not heard of a "Upstate New York Royals" moving there. KitHutch 05:49, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
- The league is the American Association of Soccer, but could never get the ASL name due to copyright infringements. The 16-team (but exceeded over 20 in 2006) league hasn't got to play, because of economic instability and lack of fan interest. Only the Fresno, Murrieta, Santa Ana and Yuma Az. teams will actually play in other soccer leagues based in Mexico. I recalled the minor league Mexico-America Soccer League/Association had 8 teams in the US: Antelope Valley Cal., Avondale Az., Bakersfield, Chico Cal., Chula Vista, Fresno, Imperial Valley, Lake Elsinore/Murrieta Cal., Merced/Modesto Cal., Northern Arizona, Oakland, Orange County (Santa Ana), Palm Desert, Redding, Riverside/San Bernardino, Salinas, Sonoma County, Stockton, Tucson, Yuma Az., Albuquerque and El Paso, but no doubt 3 or 4 new teams from the AAS are part of the MASA (or MASL) in 2007. 63.3.14.1 02:30, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- Upstate NY Royals hadn't moved to Syracuse, they play in Rochester NY and in a whole other soccer league. I haven't manage to find out what league they play in, but Rochester NY and Fall River RI indeed have minor league soccer franchises. The York PA Patriots and Lancaster PA Lancers are in the Pennsylvania soccer League, a very small sports venue that actually did well in the stands, and financially in good shape in 2006. 63.3.14.1 02:32, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
- And to finish off the discussion, two soccer teams in Nebraska never were in the ASL II or III leagues. The Lincoln Lions/Leopards and Omaha Chiefs/Kangaroos are in the American Midwest (or Western) Soccer league, another small semi-pro group of soccer franchises in the central states. 63.3.14.1 02:36, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
