AMA is a joke
[edit]Can we add a criticisms section? The AMA doesn't reward talented musicians but they reward entertainers of the easily entertained. 99.238.84.209 (talk) 15:43, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Major Awards?
[edit]Hello. I have proposed at [1] that we add the following two awards to Category 8 of WP:BAND, reflecting that they are major awards: the American Music Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards.
Feel free to join that discussion with your thoughts (whatever they may be), or simply follow it, if you like. Thanks.--Epeefleche (talk) 07:40, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
POV
[edit]I've reverted an edit that restored personal opinion about the AMAs being more representative than other awards, use of the WP:PEACOCK term "major," stating unequivocally without citation that it is regarded as equivalent to the Billboard Awards and Grammy Awards, that the Grammys "compete for prestige and television ratings," and several other personal opinions. --Tenebrae (talk) 00:32, 24 November 2011 (UTC)
The 'Differences between the AMAs and Grammy Awards' Section
[edit]I'm having a hard time understanding what the author is trying to say there. I think some nouns are missing. Also, these awards are much closer to the Billboard awards as they're based on popularity. There's little similarity between the AMAs and the Grammys. But what are the airplay and sales numbers based on? I think it used to be based on Cashbox magazine's end-of-year rankings (then people would vote on the top 3 in each category). Is it still the same way? 2602:306:CD9B:E9A0:5560:1889:FD95:84E (talk) ES —Preceding undated comment added 01:03, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
