WP:BLP concerns

[edit]

Regarding this edit,[1] when it comes to biographical material about living persons, Wikipedia tends to be conservative. We don't post sensitive, personal or contentious material about a living person without strong sourcing. (See reliable sources for Wikipedia's guidelines about sourcing.) Even then, we have to weigh this information as compared to all the information regarding this person, and if we decide to include this information, we should do so in an encyclopedic manner. I'm sorry, but saying that sources exist, but you can't find any, so you're adding a 'citation needed' tag, is not sufficient. A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 01:44, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Physicist

[edit]

You should have an article for U Toronto physicist Amanda Peet, or at least mention her on a disambiguation page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.162.253.101 (talk) 20:04, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Is she notable? Can you prove that she's notable? Chaheel Riens (talk) 20:48, 27 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Chaheel Riens: You can see how frequently she is cited by searching "Amanda W. Peet" in Google Books or do the same search on Google Scholars to see the numerous peer-reviewed articles she's authored. Or you could check out the Nova presentation: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/view-peet.html. I don't know if that constitutes "proof" for Wikipurposes. Likely cutting edge theoretical physicists have a heavier burden than the countless garage bands, sitcom episodes and video games that have articles in Wikipedia. Quaker?

[edit]

Why is Peet listed in the American Quakers category? I don't see any reference supporting that she's Quaker, only that her father is, and that she attended a Quaker school. -Amcbride (talk) 23:03, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Early roles - no source and incorrect

[edit]

"Peet's first screen performances were in a television commercial for Skittles and an uncredited appearance as the girlfriend of the titular character in the second episode of The Larry Sanders Show in 1992." I just watched this episode, and Larry Sanders' wife is played by Megan Gallagher (listed in the credits and IMDB). There is no "girlfriend" and no Amanda Peet.
