This article appears to be taken from the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica. If we go by Garrett Mattingley's account, we should not make such a negative assessment of Medina Sidonia, this could be one case where the 1911 Britannica has been overtaken by more recent scholarship. Comparison with the Spanish wikipedia article would be useful. PatGallacher 13:21, 18 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An Army officer in charge of the Spanish Navy? (UTC)—Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.58.20.4 (talk), as of 19:57, April 26, 2007 (UTC)--That much is correct.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 149.69.100.55 (talk), as of 15:59, May 15, 2007 (UTC)

I edited the page to give a more balanced account of the Duke's performance as commander of the Armada.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.194.241.83 (talk) 02:24, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the NPOV tag for two reasons. One, apparently the above editor attempted to make it "more balanced." (Please don't interpret that as a set of scare quotes-- I actually quite like that editor's additions.) Secondly, and more importantly, whoever added the tag didn't make any specific requests or criticisms. Neutrality complaints need to be more specific. DCB4W (talk) 19:18, 23 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vital dates

[edit]

We have 1 September 1550 and 26 July 1615. Of the other language versions, only the Polish article agrees. All the others have a birth date of 10 September, and a death year of 1615 but no precise date. I assume our birth date is just a typo for 10 September (because his name appears in 10 September and not 1 September), but why do we have a precise death date but the others don't? -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 02:42, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
