Settlements are disputed
[edit]Yes it is true that the "settlements" are disputed, but it is an irrelevant statement for this article. Therefore, I removed it. DaringDonna (talk) 15:35, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
- It is very much not irrelevant, among the most significant facts about this place that its creation is widely seen as a war crime. I restored the material. nableezy - 22:38, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
Khirbet Beit Sawir and Fagur: should they be separate sub sections?
[edit]There is still quite a lot which isn't written out, like the SWP stuff, which is always quoted by later writers. Should we just collect it in two subsections? Any opinions?
Also, where is the place that Yuval Peleg excavated in relation to Beit Sawir? If anyone have a copy to spare of the Peleg paper, I would be grateful, Huldra (talk) 23:13, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- @Huldra: It is here (you probably have it). The excavation was at 152500/118150, exactly on Kh. Beit Sawir, which was 500m east of where Alon Shvut is now. Faggur/Faghur was 2km to the NE. Zerotalk 04:44, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks, I found it, at 162500/118150. I see the original Peleg paper is in Hebrew, Huldra (talk) 20:28, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
Incorrect caption
[edit]The photo of the winery says "Gush Etzion Winery in Alon Shvut." This is incorrect. The winery is near Alon Shvut, not in it. Thanks for fixing this mistake. DaringDonna (talk) 14:55, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
Edit Request
[edit]I'd like to edit the section about settlements to account for the United States joining Israel in proclaiming that Settlements aren't illegal under international law. Shachna1979 (talk) 15:47, 5 February 2020 (UTC)
- That is discussed in International law and Israeli settlements, but the reliable sources continue to use international community for who considers settlements illegal. nableezy - 17:28, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
Is it at the exact site of Masu'ot Yitzhak?
[edit]If so, this should be made much clearer from the very first sentence. What I mean is: Is the village itself built around the Masu'ot Yitzhak ruins, or on top of them? Not "on land once worked by" or "near" or anything along those vague lines. Thanks.
How I got here: except for Kfar Etzion, there is no other settlement in current Gush Etzion bearing any of the old names. The survivors of the "missing 3" relocated and took the names with them. A kibbutz is primarily a group of people, not a place. But have those 3 original sites been rebuilt under a new name, or not?
On the regional council page somebody had started a subsection called "Historical Gush Etzion settlements", but had to give up I guess and forgot to remove this sentence (I just took care of that). Maybe there is a way to pick up from where he left it, at least geographically speaking. Just thinking. Arminden (talk) 20:42, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
