Updated and Removed Stub

[edit]

I've spent some time on this article updating and expanding, using some of the many news sources available from the 2012-13 restoration project. It seemed appropriate to remove the stub designation, so I did. And I've added a University of Illinois Urbana Champaign template. Feel free to comment or help correct any errors I made Chris.ridgeway (talk) 22:52, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I've now added new details from an new article that appeared on the front page of the News-Gazette in the CU area on March 4 and in the Chicago Tribune. The Alma Mater is not expected to return for graduation. I would expect more articles to appear in the next weeks on the issue as its likely to be a decision that sparks student response Chris.ridgeway (talk) 16:39, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good work - definitely not a stub. If you're up for a bit of work, you could send it to Good Article Candidates. I might remove some of the stuff about putting jerseys on the statue - but that might just be my strange taste. On the other hand, I'd sort of like to see a photo of 3 students on the base in the proper poses! Oskee-wa-wa. Smallbones(smalltalk) 18:29, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If I'm not mistaken, Alma Mater sculpture was moved very recently

[edit]

I believe that the statue may have been moved within the last 12-24 months. If you look at the YouTube link below, I don't believe it's in front of Altgeld Hall any longer.
